Here's how our second day went. First, we read an easy reader called "Meet the Dinosaurs" that introduced us to the most popular dinosaurs and their names. It was very helpful with pronunciation. Then, we did a worksheet that involved writing words. Since writing has become so frustrating for us both, I whipped out our Funnel Gripper by Dee Walden. I had the pleasure of meeting Dee at the HomeSchool Expo a few weeks ago. The funnel gripper is a great tool to help you teach your child the best position for pencil control. It also gives support and helps your child to have better control. It helps us every time. Here's a pic:
Next, we did a dinosaur-related worksheet (meat eaters vs. plant eaters):
After that, we went on a dinosaur hunt in "The Great Dinosaur Search" from Usborne:
We learned how to use our dinosaur spinner. I picked it up at Michaels for $0.49! Got a Presidents one too.
We played the dinosaur math game again. Jake really likes this!
We learned about dinosaur defenses:
...and estimation:
This was hysterical. Jake had to guess how many dinosaurs can fit on the truck. First, he felt badly for the dinosaurs. Jake knows that when he sees chickens on a truck, that it's bad news for those chickens. Guess he assumed the same fate awaited those dinosaurs! Next, he refused to put the little dinosaurs on the truck with the T-Rex because he would eat them. My boy is soooo cute!
See that book there? That's where I got all these great little Dinosaur worksheets and activities. It's packed with them and came with a poster too. Picked it up at a yard sale for $1! It's from Brighter Vision.
Our art project for the day (picked up a 6-pack of these at Michaels for $0.89):
See? He's using his funnel gripper. It works with pencils, crayons, markers... and scratch sticks!
Here's the proud artist displaying his and my creations:
Jake said his dinosaurs were girls because girls like rainbows ;-)
